My Favorite New Pieces: This Leather Jacket, Paige Denim and Over the Knee Boots

It is no secret that my wardrobe consists of a majority of black clothing and accessories; jackets, tops, jeans, shoes, purses, belts; you name it I have it in some shade of black!  I have had a lot of people ask me why I chose the wardrobe scheme of all black.  My answer?  Time.  It is so much easier to just grab anything out of my closet and know that it will match.  And how much fun is it to add bright colored accessories to an all black outfit?!

Alright time to get down to business and talk about all the pieces of this outfit:

This jacket - Kendall & Kylie Leather Jacket: I am completely obsessed with this jacket!  It is such a soft faux leather and it is under $100!  Added benefit is the belt, as I can wear it as a top on its own or open as a jacket.  I've worn this jacket with everything; baseball cap with leggings and running errands, dressed up with a great dress and even on the back of a Harley Davidson!

These jeans - Paige Denim: I never really believed in expensive jeans, and just got by with American Eagle, that is, until I discovered Paige Denim.  These jeans are serious magic beauties!  They can be a little costly but are so worth it!  Great denim that has yet to fade and so comfortable to wear.  Here's my tip - head to Nordstrom Rack!  They have these for under $100!

Lastly, these boots - Sam Edelman Circus Over the Knee Boots: I was searching for a while for a great pair of over the knee that were comfortable and affordable.  Still living on a college budget and loving fashion, a girl has to know how to save!  I found these at DSW for $60! They have a great chunk heel which makes them comfortable to wear for long periods of time and look great with anything I pair them with!  I will be waering these well into the spring and summer with high waisted shorts, skirts and rompers!

Here's my advice for this one: don't let anyone take away your inspiration!  Dress in whatever you want!  I love the way I look in black, so that's what I wear, but hey if pink is your thing go for it!

Dressing Up in the Winter

Through the cold winter months, I find it essential to find ways to look my best, while still staying warm!  New England winters can be quite the bear, and even after living here my entire life I haven't found a way to make them much better.

This dress is amazing!  Bought from Artizia when I was in NYC for Fashion week, I was immediately drawn the the v-neck line and super soft black fabric.  All the comforts of a sweater dress paired with the fun of a little black dress, could you crave anything else?

It was quite the chilly day during this photoshoot, so I wanted to add a little something extra to make the outfit complete, but to also keep me from freezing!  And get this beauties, this scarf is only $6 at Primark! Yes, you read that correctly, super cozy blanket scarf for only $6!  I have taken this scarf everywhere with me this winter, it never leaves my bag, and it is the best to have handy on an airplane!

Maxi Dresses are a Must

It is time for the summer maxis to be strutted down the streets of Boston!  This maxi is like no other, and it is totally comfortable to wear to look chic for running errands or to dress up for an event.  Having these types of pieces in your wardrobe are the key to always feeling prepared for those last minute events that always happen during the summer months!  Passing up a fabulous night because you have nothing to wear?  Doesn't sound like the beauties I know!

So strut your stuff beauties!  Make the world your runway!

So being that I get to spend all of my time wandering through this city and loving every second (when I'm not working), there is a trend that I love to step out in style!  This white lace dress has it all: cute cutouts, short sleeve, light, all lace overlay, and at an amazing price point!

You all know I am a huge fan of a perfect denim jacket, and throwing on over this dress makes it the perfect casual look.  Going on date night or out with the girls?  Grab a bright colored clutch and some heels to match and not only are you on trend but you look fabulous!

Now, I know some people fear the color white, I myself used to never dare buy a pair of white jeans because lets be honest here, it seems like a fashion disaster waiting to happen right?  Well let me tell you this, take a chance and be bold!  Be a little daring beauties, you might just love your new look!

P.S. Some other fun news, one of my beautiful photographers, Jillian, has completed her college career and is on to do some fabulous things for her future! Lucky for me she has decided to continue with the Be That Beauty Team!   Keep tuned in to see all of the incredible things we are doing!

The Transitional Trench Coat and Why You Need One in Your Closet

I had been on the search for a great trench coat for so long, and decided to wander into Nordstrom Rack one afternoon; I found this gem!  I wanted black, as that is a color I usually always wear, and I felt it would be more versatile.

The biggest issue I had was that I am petite, so finding a coat that was not too long on me presented its challenges.  Trust me when I said there was a pile of coats beside me as I tried to make up my mind.

Something else I was looking for was how transitional this trench could be!  This coat being waterproof has also proven to have its benefits!

Something else I love about this coat is it looks equally good unbuttoned as it does buttoned!  I was worried about finding a coat that would fall funny if I decided to wear it open and this coat does not disappoint!

I have been really into ripped jeans lately, can you tell I can't wait for nice spring weather?!  This Ann Taylor LOFT top pairs perfectly, adding some fun texture to the outfit!  Not a fan of crop tops?  Tanks work just as well for this look!

As always, I'm a fan of pairing a pop of color and a pair of heels!  My pink Kate Spade bag is my go to anytime I want to add some color interest in my wardrobe!

And as always, here is a little inspiration for you beauties!  As the semester is coming to a close, and I am going to begin a huge adventure in taking steps towards my career in fashion, I sometimes find myself feeling a bit worried, wondering if I am making the right choices and doing the right thing.  And here is the advice from my mom (bless her for putting up with me all the time); "You are never going to know until you try, so just go for it.  You never really fail unless you don't try!"  And guess what beauties, Mom is always right! xoxo

Weekend Wandering

While it was unseasonably warm in Boston over the past few weekends, the freezing cold has sadly finally hit us!  Lucky for me, I went out and enjoyed the gorgeous weather with the newest addition to the Be That Beauty Team, Jillian!  She will be taking over photography this semester as Dannie, who has done Be That Beauty photography in the past, is busy studying abroad in Denmark!

Dresses and jackets are my go to outfit choice!  This jacket and dress, both from Ann Taylor LOFT, are staples in my wardrobe!  I am a firm believer that every girl needs a jean jacket, it goes with almost anything.  Here's a tip too!  This dress didn't come with a belt, and was not advertised with one, but on me I felt like if fell very strange.  I took a chance, belted it, and voila!  If you ever feel a dress is fitting kind of strange, try belting it, you may be pleasantly surprised!

And as always beauties, find your way to add your own spark of style!  Mine, as usual, is the addition of heels!  To me, they embody who I am, and show off my confidence to the fullest!  Go out and be confident beauties!

And in the spirit of Valentine's Day, don't forget that the most important person in your life is you!  Love yourself first beauties! XOXO

New Year, New Attitude, New Goals

It is a new year, hello 2016!  Sorry for the delay on the blog beauties, I was spending some quality time with my family!  But Be That Beauty is now back and planning for an incredible year!  Have any New Year's Resolutions?  This girl sure does!  I am determined to make this year my best yet; to be my happiest and most victorious self!

I had a year of a lot of hurt and letting other people dictate how happy I was; needless to say Taylor Swift's song "Bad Blood" was sort of an anthem for me.  These things happen though, and we learn lessons from the people that we think we can trust and who end up hurting us.  Get back up beauties, and brush yourselves off; I know its tough and I know its easier to stay under the covers and hide, but keep going! Keep fighting for the life you want and the life you deserve!

This shoot was all about showing off my confidence!  I am a huge fan of all black, and anyone can pull it off!  Adding my favorite black blazer and a pair of Converse high tops, I am sold!  Another way to wear this look?  Add a pop of color for your top, or a bright colored pair of heels; just a little bit is all you need to make this outfit complete!

Take charge beauties, and be unstoppable!

Speak Up and Speak Now

I think you deserve to look back on your life without this chorus of resounding voices saying, I could have, but it’s too late now. So there’s a time for silent, and there’s a time for waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly know what you need to say, you’ll know it. I don’t think you should wait. I think you should Speak Now.
— Taylor Swift, Speak Now World Tour

One of my true passions is aiding others in discovering their inner confidence.  I myself, used to be the shy girl in the back of the classroom who didn't like to speak, and I have grown into the strong and powerful young business woman that I am today!  One of the hardest lessons that I had to learn was to speak up, and to voice my opinions, which can be one of the hardest skills to master. Once you find your voice and your passion, never let go!  Your voice matters, and what you do with it makes a difference! So c'mon Beauties, let's hear your voice! Be loud and proud!

For this look, I wanted to stand out against the background, and look powerful and strong!  Doing a photo shoot in a park full of strangers definitely takes some guts, but when you love something this much, you do it!  Wine colored pants from LOFT are one of my favorite items for this fall, and how beautiful is that color?!

A Little Wednesday Inspiration

The fact that Halloween is in a week is quite the crazy idea!  It seems like it was only yesterday I was in TJ Maxx wondering why all of the fall decorations were out!

This semester has really kicked off quick, I consistently get asked if I actually sleep because I juggle so much.  I think the important thing to remember, however, is why we do these sorts of things.

I have an ultimate goal of owning my own company, and I know that to get there, I have to work extremely hard now to get to a good place in my career.  Of course there are days where I just want to give up and stop going, but I don't.

I keep going because I am a powerful business woman, I am a leader, I am a future boss, and I am a role model.  And guess what? Many of you reading this are too.  Keep it up beauties and when the world gets tough, get tougher and show everyone what you're made of!

Dare to Venture a Little Further

Being back in Boston has some huge advantages!  While I love the serenity of my beautiful home in Connecticut, there's something so thrilling about having one of America's greatest cities at my finger tips!  This year, I made a promise to myself to take advantage of the city, push my boundaries, and discover the things that make Boston as incredible as it is.

It is incredible the things you can discover when you decide to just explore and see what is out there! I have begun to make a name for myself doing this!

Here's the thing beauties, you can be the people in the background, or you can be the person making things happen.  It's that simple.

Here's a little inspiration for you:

Do not ever, ever, consider giving up.  You'll find your place, you'll discover the person you are meant to be.  Give yourself the time you need to grow, and you'll find your way.

Brunch Essentials

If there is one thing I love, it is enjoying a fabulous brunch with my girlfriends.  This became one go my favorite parts of the summer and have brought this newfound love back to the beautiful city of Boston with me!

Whether it was a quick Starbucks run before a long walk, or a sit down meal at a diner, I am always one to dress my best.  One of my favorite summer pieces?  The maxi dress!   How something can be comfortable and fashionable to combat that summer heat is a true blessing.

Something else great about them?  It's a piece that you can easily transfer to fall with a  fun jacket!  This one I have pictured below looks incredible with a jean jacket and a cute fedora; hello fall!

Wedding Ready

Summer is a beautiful time of year, full of sunshine and making memories to last a lifetime.  It is also quite the popular season for a wedding.  Flowers, laughter, glamorous outdoor photos to capture the love and happiness, but the question everyone ponders, what am I going to wear?

This season, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of a friend from college, rustic wedding outdoors with well done DIY touches.  The idea of being outside for the duration of the wedding is an exciting but trying one for deciding on the perfect outfit.  And if you're like me and love to dance the night away, something comfortable but trendy is essential.  I decided on a strapless black jumpsuit from Ann Taylor LOFT; nice and light and an easy re wear!

Here are my suggestions:

- Keep it simple darlings!  Being outside for a while, a complicated outfit with a lot of accessories does not scream comfort

- Dresses, skirts and jumpsuits oh my!  Have fun with your outfit, wear something you wouldn't usually and feel like the incredible beauty you are!

-If the wedding is outside, sunscreen and bug spray are a must, do not forget them!

-Try something different!  For this wedding, I decided to try out jewelry tattoos! Being that I was going to be outside all night, I didn't want a bunch of clunky jewelry on, and i got tons of compliments!  Check them out!
